We love Burrrrrrrritos! Hailing from Mexico, this dish traditionally had only three ingredients: tortilla, meat and beans. We’ve made it perfect for your little one by opting for pinto beans, which are a wonderful source of protein, iron and fiber for your growing toddler, and adding a number of healthy spices like cumin and coriander to fuel your toddler’s growth.
Tiny Story: Our goal is to help every parent feed their baby the healthiest food, even when life gets busy. As a working mom, Betsy knows first-hand this balancing act and often feeds her baby Sebi the baby burrito bowl and eats the rest herself! (Tip: She prepares it on a pan and adds avocado and cheese.)
Brain: Pinto beans are a good source of iron, which helps red blood cells carry oxygen, and is a critical nutrient for infant brain development. Vitamin C in the lime juice helps to absorb the iron.
Immunity: Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant and carotenoid found in tomatoes, is known to reduce the risk for heart disease and cancer. Inulin, a prebiotic fiber in onions, along with the fiber in pinto beans helps maintain healthy gut bacteria for immunity.
